Partyforumseasia: The “government’s own party” was established in June 2010 for the following first democratic election, which it won, not least due to the boycott of the National League for Democracy. From the 330 seats up for election, 110 being reserved for appointed Army Representatives, it won 259. After the 2012 by-election, which turned out to be a sweeping success for the NLD, the USDP holds 212 seats in the Lower House (Pyithu Hluttaw).
